Death of John B. Smith.
John B. Smith, one of the wealth-iest and best known farmers in
Tippecanoe township, died of grip
on Saturday last and was buried on
Tuesday in the Smith graveyard
near his late residence. The deceased
was born in Ohio in 1824 and
settled in this county in 1861. On
April 27, 1865, he enlisted in Co. D
of the 154th regiment and served
with it until it was mustered out
August 4, 1865. He was an indus-
trious, upright citizen. A wife and
eleven children survive him.
